Lessons in Writing Fanficion: Fixing the Problems3Part 3: What Makes a Good Plot?
Plot writing can be many things to writers. They might be really hard to do because you want your material to be original, so you might try thinking outside the box. Or, it might be easy for you because your mind is used to being creative and inventive so the ideas naturally flow out of you. Or, plot writing is super easy for you until later on down the road you realize that the plot is eerily similar to someone else's work and you have to change it. Whatever the case may be there are many things to improve your plot writing skills by first understanding what makes up a good plot.
Conflict and Complications
Often times when I read fan fiction I find that the plots are similar in a lot of ways. That's not to say that everyone copies the same story (although that has happened) but rather each author writes the same idea for a plot. The plot to a story doesn't have to revolve around the physical complications
Lessons in Writing Fanficion: Fixing the Problems2Part 2: The Elements of Short Stories, What makes it Interesting
Short stories (which is the genre I find fan fiction to fall under) are brief, fictional, prose, and narratives. They have less than 75 pages to them. A novella is between 75-150 pages, and novel is 150 pages or more. However, when writing a short story there are many things to take into consideration to make it believable. For instance, when we read or watch a Marvel movie we notice the depth put into the science behind Bruce Banner's condition as the Hulk, or Tony Stark's Iron Man suit, or even when watching TV shows like Castle where the team goes to work to find phone records and paper trails form the victim before he/she died. This background information helps make the story more credible and more interesting for us to want to engage and keep up with the story. So what are all these pieces that put together a story? These are the Six Elements of Short Stories (which, r
Lessons in Writing Fanficion: Fixing the Problems1Part 1: Basic Improvements Thanks to Essays
You may be looking at the title of this first chapter wondering how essays could possibly improve fan fiction writing. Those are two totally different types of writing, how can they be similar? Well, they aren't, but the way they are written is important and some of the tools that help you to write a convincing college paper can also help you to write a convincing story. You may be wondering, "well who cares if the story is convincing or not? I'm just having fun writing down ideas." Think to yourself, if you like writing enough that you may be interested in making a career out of it, why not use fan fiction writing as a means to test out different ways to improve your writing? It is definitely creative, (despite that the ideas you are working on have already come form someone else, which is a big issue in college so I highly recommend you avoid fan fiction writing in any creative writing clas
The Date (5 - Final) Loki x Reader
A/N: This is a very short chapter, however the story needs to end, and I'm out of ideas!! Thank you for understanding. Hugs, A!

Loki doesn't simply hold my hand in his; he interlocks our fingers and our palms are firm against the other. "I knew from the moment I saw you... I feel your presence in my soul like Heimdall has opened the Bifrost between us. How ever long you need, you shall have. But know you this: we will be husband and wife."
There is no longer any true concept of time. Perhaps we have been sitting here, palms touching, for ten minutes - or ten days. There are no words intense enough to describe the sensations I am receiving from this man, through our palms. And not solely physical 'vibrations', as such; he shows me his memories and his dreams for the future. I see two thrones, and two crowns; one slightly larger than the other, but emanating a sense of equal strength
The Date (4) Loki x Reader
It's Friday night, and I'm sitting at the restaurant's bar like I was about three weeks ago, except this time, I am twice as nervous. I've arrived half an hour earlier than our agreed meeting time just so I can sip a drink instead of shooting back an ounce of rum.
My bartender from that night comes out from a room behind the bar. She looks at the scant customers in her domain and does a classy double-take when she recognizes me. Noting I have no drink before me, she reaches for the top shelf rum and gives me a questioning look. I shake my head and smile.
"Not tonight! I'm in a much better position to gage how tonight's date will go. I'd like a pint of whatever ale you have on tap."
"Beer?" She replies as she reaches for a chilled stein. "That's twice you've fooled me. First with the rum instead of tequila, and now with a beer." She sets the glass mug on a leather coaster. "A second date, then.

The first thing I see is a rather posh bar directly at the back of the room. Holding my head high (and refusing to look at anyone seated), I stride confidently towards that gleaming wooden masterpiece and the bartender who is laughing at a patron's comment. Soft music plays, and the lights are slightly dimmed, perfectly supporting the restaurant's relaxed, semi-casual theme. In my peripheral view, I note single taper candles lit on each table, adding to the intimate atmosphere.
Each step closer to the bartender makes me 'need' that drink a little more. Without batting an eyelash, I request a shot of dark rum and, as elegantly as possible, down the liquid in one gulp. I release a long exhale, fully expecting my heart to return beating at a normal rate shortly. The bartender smiles and asks if one will do, or would I perhaps need another.
"And here I was trying to be as discreet as possible," I said.
"Not at all," she replied with a wink.

After dinner, you had asked Wanda if she wanted to come out with you. She declined to say she did not want to get in the way of you making friends. You got dressed red lace dress that came up to mid-thigh. You met Alyssa and some people from work, outside the house that you said you lived. You went to a club called blur; it was great to be out with real people. You all were having fun taking shots and some hard liquor drinking. Thanks to being close to Tony made you tolerable to that, but you could feel the effects. You were dancing with some guy when you look and in the drunken haze, you could have sworn you saw to tall men looking at you. In the dim light, you could tell one had blonde hair and the other had darker hair. Those two you thought as you kept dancing, mad because that met they weren’t giving you space. You ignored and danced for more. After a couple of hours, you all were tried out and left. As everyone else departed you kind of walk with some people, who li
